Postcard from Germany.

The first wooden beacon was erected in 1807 on Prinz-Georg-Bastion and only commissioned in 1815. From 1853 to 1864, a lightship located on a sandbank took over. After its destruction, a lighthouse was built in 1866 and replaced again in 1889.

The current Friedrichsort lighthouse, started in 1965 and was commissioned in October 1971, is on the same islet, next to the old one.

The old tower was transported to the Kiel marina. The tower has a fog light system , radio transmitter and water level monitoring.

Thank you Erhard for the beautiful Friedrichsort Light House Postcard with matching stamps.
