Sri Manjunatheswara Temple

Dharmasthala is a village on the banks of the Nethravathi River in the Belthangadi taluk of the Dakshina Kannada district. The village is known for its Dharmasthala Temple which houses the shrine of Shiva, Manjunatha, Ammanavaru, Chandranath and the Dharma Daivas (Guardian Spirits of Dharma) namely Kalarahu, Kalarkayi, Kumaraswamy and Kanyakumari. Dharmasthala is known for it's beautiful surroundings and Sri Manjunatheswara Temple. Lord Manjunatheswara, a form of Shiva is worshipped here as are the native ‘Daivas’. The temple priests are Vaishnavaite Brahmins and the head of Dharmasthala Kshetra, the Heggade is a Jain by faith.
