Jerome,Arizona USA was built on Cleopatra Hill above a vast deposit of copper mine.
With Jerome’s economy completely dependent upon the demand for copper,it was home to more than 10,000 people in the 1920s. As the ore deposits ran out, the mines closed. Phelps Dodge Mine was closed in 1953. The remaining population of around 50 to 100 people promoted the town as a historic ghost town.Today Jerome is a thriving tourist and artist hub with a population of around 450 people.
On the copper card is the Central Hotel Corner of lower main street.
This scene is provided by the Copper Shop on upper main street.
