Postcard from Slovakia.

Natural and Cultural Landscape of Danube Region, Slovakia
Bratislava-Devin,Slovakia.
Grandiose historical Devín castle stands on a strategically massive rock above the junction of the rivers Danube and Morava and it is a part of Bratislava city today. Devín castle is one of the oldest Slovak castle.
After the downfall of a Great Moravian empire the owners of the castle changed frequently, and in the 18th century Devín castle began to deteriorate and gradually only ruins remained. Today, Devín castle is such a beautiful, obsolete and reconstructed monument with expositions from the past of Slavs and a unique castle well with the depth of 55 metres. The most photographed part of the castle is the tiny watchtower, known as the Maiden Tower, separated from the main castle, it balances perilously on a lone rock and has spawned countless legends concerning imprisoned lovelorn daughters leaping to their deaths.Thank you Laco for re-sending this panoramic site card with beauiful stamps.
