Postcard on Rashtrapati Bhavan ,New Delhi.India.


The Rashtrapati Bhavan or  Presidential Residence", formerly known as Viceroy's House, is the official home of the President of India, located at the Western end of Rajpath in New Delhi, India. It may refer to only the mansion (the 340-room main building) that has the president's official residence, halls, guest rooms and offices; it may also refer to the entire 130-hectare (320 acre) President Estate that additionally includes huge presidential gardens (Mughal Gardens), large open spaces, residences of bodyguards and staff, stables, other offices and utilities within its perimeter walls. In terms of area, it is one of the largest residences of a head of state in the world.
Lord Irwin was the first Viceroy to move into the Viceroy's House, as it was then known, on December 23, 1929. This building, which was designed by the British Architect, Sir Edwin Lutyens, is a mixture of Indian and Western schools of architecture.
