Ostseebad Heiligendamm - oldest seaside resort in Germany

If there were a ranking list for the architectural beauty of seaside resorts, Heiligendamm in Germany would certainly occupy a leading position. The health resort has always attracted attention beyond the borders of Mecklenburg. And the place became internationally known in 2007, when in Heiligendamm important heads of state met for the G8 summit.

The Schiffer-compagnie was founded in 11th November 1488 in the Hanseatic city of Stralsund. It was founded for   the purpose of mutual protection and cooperation of mariners and the social security of survivors. The founding document, a document containing 37 parchment pages, has been preserved to this day, (Wiki )
